The band won over all of Germany with its songs in Cologne dialect and even captivated fans in other German-speaking countries and therefore far beyond the Rhineland. It was more successful than anyone anticipated, astounded the media and critics and upended some of the golden rules of the music business as if that were quite natural. In the early 1980s, they were considered to be “pop stars of utterly unbelievable dimensions” (Rolling Stone/2023) and their songs in this decade had a lasting impact on people’s musical tastes.
Hits like “Verdamp lang her”, “Kristallnaach” and, of course, also “Do kanns Zaubere” took up permanent residence in the hearts and ears of their fans.
In 2024, BAP is going on a musical ZEITREISE (German for journey through time). Touring Germany, Switzerland and the Benelux countries with a tour of the same name, the band will perform all the songs from their two double-platinum albums from 1981 and 1982 which brought them fame beyond the borders of Germany, and which have since been right at the top of their fans’ wish list.
