A few months before he died, Richard Strauss composed his “Four Last Songs” to poems by Joseph von Eichendorff and Hermann Hesse under the impact of the events of his time. They are some of his most intense compositions in which death is seen as a release from profound tiredness, but they offer a tentative glimmer of hope towards the end. The duo Camilla Nylund and Helmut Deutsch perform the rarely heard arrangement for piano – delicate and almost intimate, under the impact of the events of our time. With optimism.
As part of the “MOMENTUM: Our Future, Now” initiative, supported by Bayer Kultur, Camilla Nylund und Helmut Deutsch give a singer of the new generation the opportunity to perform in a concert with a large audience to actively counteract the effects of the current crisis
