EVVC Award 2010

The Historische Stadthalle among top three in 2010 EVVC Award nominations for the „Best in-house event organization“ category

The annual general meeting of the European Association of Event Centers (EVVC) in Düsseldorf on the 19 April 2010 was the occasion for the fourth annual presentation of the EVVC awards.

The Historische Stadthalle was nominated for the 2010 EVVC Award "Best in-house event organization" for the organization and realization of the 1st International Organ Competition which took place during the "Wuppertal Musiksommer".

The "Wuppertal Musiksommer" is planned as a multi-faceted annual summer cultural festival. Sustainable cultural education and development, as well as the support and encouragement of new talent are two of its focal aspects. The festival is an important element in the consolidation and integration of Wuppertal as a centre for culture and education. Furthermore, it underpins the town's reputation on the international music scene as a location for concerts and cultural sponsorship - with the Historische Stadthalle as its most important concert hall. The organ competition enhances the reputation of the hall's 67-stop Sauer concert organ among organists and fans of the instrument worldwide.

The spokesman for the jury, Professor Gerd Schwandler, commented: "The jury was impressed by the high quality of the 1st International Organ Competition and how the Historische Stadthalle used the theme of organ music in a competition for up-and-coming young musicians. The collaboration with the "Hochschule für Musik und Tanz Köln" and the support of the prize winners through further engagements also deserve a mention".

EVVC Award 2008

Historische Stadthalle wins the EVVC Award 2008

On 19 May the Historische Stadthalle, together with the Kongress Zentrum Rosenheim, was named the “2008 Best Center in the category 1,200 to 4,000 seats”. The award ceremony, followed by a festive gala, took place in the Messe Leipzig. The jury of the EVVC (European Association of Event Centers) chose the “Best of the Branch” from the results of a customer survey and requests for fictitious events. After all, who better than our events customers and partners can judge our performance? The EVVC Award – a prize we are proud of.

Bettina Meister-Lauria, Silke Asbeck, Holger Kruppe, Managing Director, and Mailin Weber (from left to right) received the prize on behalf of the whole team from Gundula Gause (far right).
